According to available information from Daimler, the Mercedes-Benz X-Class pickup truck turned out to be expensive to manufacture and not in demand. That is why the company's management is considering removing the model from production. Recall that for the first time the new Mercedes X-Class was presented in 2017, at the same time it entered the conveyor line. The manufacturer put a bet on it, assuming that the car will become a hit among other pickups in the world.

In fact, all the expectations of the manufacturer did not come true, since there was no demand and, given the high cost, it is not foreseen in the near future. The concern's downturn in profits also played a role in the car's discontinuation. Therefore, it is highly likely that the manufacturer may stop producing the Mercedes X class. As statistics show, for the last year sales in Europe, South Africa and Australia totaled 16,700 vehicles. This indicator is significantly lower than that of competitors.
In addition to the high price and low popularity, the decrease in demand for the pickup was played by recall campaigns that the manufacturer had to carry out to eliminate defects at the time of assembly. On the territory of the same Germany, the price of the new Mercedes-Benz X-Class was 37,294 euros. The main competitors are Toyota Hilux, Ford Ranger, Volkswagen Amarok and Nissan Navara. The price of competitors is significantly lower, and the models themselves have been tested over time and in different situations.

The pickup is based on the well-known ladder frame with passive shock absorbers, which is also used on the Nissan NP300 Navara. This basis was taken from the Nissan-Renault alliance, with which Mercedes recently signed a cooperation contract. Among the engines, only turbocharged diesels can be found. One unit of the dCi family (volume of 2.3 liters), with a capacity of 163 and 190 horses, taken from Nissan-Renault.

The second diesel is a Mercedes V6 with a capacity of 258 horses and a maximum torque of 550 Nm. Depending on the configuration, a 6-speed manual or 7-speed automatic transmission can be installed in pair with the engine. As for the drive of a pickup truck, only rear-wheel or four-wheel drive can also be used here. Today, the assembly of a pickup truck for Europe has been set up in Spain; earlier the company refused to assemble a pickup truck for South America at the Renault-Nissan plant in Argentina.
