It is almost impossible to imagine a car engine in operation without engine oil, since this is one of the main components for the correct operation of the unit. It is practically impossible to list all types and brands of motor oils for cars, since manufacturers are finalizing existing options and constantly coming up with something new.

The main goal of the production of engine oil is considered to be the search for a compromise between its durability, minimization of wear of parts and the absence of loss of power. The latest developments include oil with the addition of molybdenum and moligen. In our case, consider what moligen is, its properties, positive and negative aspects. Most of the breakthrough in the production of lubricants with moligen was made by Liqui Moly. This type is designed for modern engines, the use of which can often and quickly change from a calm to an extreme type.

What is moligen? The main purpose and characteristics

Unlike molybdenum as a separate chemical, moligen does not exist. According to experts and the manufacturer Liqui Moly, this is a derived substance due to the combination of tungsten and molybdenum. Thanks to this combination of components, the powerful new generation engines have ceased to wear out so quickly. Each component is responsible for its role in the engine, so tungsten is designed to modify and protect the surface from excessive friction, smoothen and restore damaged areas. Molybdenum, which is also part of the moligen family of engine oils, prevents overheating of parts, premature wear and does not allow the oil to change its viscosity properties with temperature changes, which in turn does not reduce the power of the unit.

Especially well oil with moligen shows itself in extreme and most crucial moments. The effect is most noticeable when starting a cold engine, where the oil has not yet reached the required temperature, but there are already some loads on the unit. It is at this moment that moligen comes into effect, when friction is already there, and the properties of the oil film have not yet reached the necessary conditions. This is one example of when a motor lubricant with moligen works much more efficiently than conventional lubricants.

Yet, as they say, there are always two sides. Specialists who believe that motor oil with moligen has positive properties and copes well with the tasks set, as well as those who speak and see the downside, where the engine's performance does not improve. Pouring grease with moligen into a car engine, the unit starts to work worse than with ordinary engine oil. Accordingly, power is lost, friction increases, and heat transfer deteriorates.

What are the benefits of moligen-based engine oil?

1. Despite the fact that many skeptics say there is no difference between ordinary motor oil and moligen, in fact it is not. A feature of the oil with moligen can be considered an excellent protection of engine parts from wear, while the oil does not burn out and remains as clean as at the time of filling. Most often, this type of lubricant is used in modern used engines. Typically, the viscosity index of oil with moligen is 19.5 mm2 / s, at a temperature of 100 degrees Celsius. We can say that this is one of the ideal options for engines that operate at high rpm (regardless of gasoline or diesel). 2. In addition to the fact that the engine oil with moligen can be used in both gasoline and diesel engines, this type of lubricant has a positive effect on fuel economy. Reduced friction, good heat dissipation and minimal viscosity differences are reflected in fuel consumption. In addition to these characteristics, the oil with moligen has received anti-corrosion and antioxidant additives. As a result, the car engine is protected from premature breakdown, wear and loss of power at the most unpredictable moment.

What are the disadvantages of moligen motor oil?

If there are advantages of engine oil with moligen, there will be disadvantages, because without them it is impossible.

1. The most important disadvantage is considered incompatibility with some cars. In simple words, this type of lubricants with moligen is more suitable for modern engines, which means that old atmospheric units, where there is often considerable wear and tear, are not included in the list of use. The reason lies in the presence of additives that may not improve the operation of the unit, but, on the contrary, coke it, thereby adding worries and repairs.

2. In fact, there is no oil that could be poured into all cars, thus you need to select the oil with moligen very carefully. Many experts say that the main disadvantage lies in the high price. Although they also say that replacement can be done less often than usual. The more expensive the car and the more powerful the engine, the more accurate and expensive you need to select lubricants.

Summing up the engine oil with moligen, I would like to say that there is no universal option, no matter how the manufacturer or marketers indicate it. It should be understood that the principle of operation of a gasoline and diesel engine is different, respectively, the technical characteristics and properties will also be different. On the one hand, modern engines wear out quickly and require constant attention, on the other hand, some units of sports cars are really very sensitive to the quality of engine oil.

Therefore, one cannot conclusively say whether it is bad oil with moligen or the best. Most likely it is suitable for certain types of engines, vehicles by year of production and operating conditions of the machines. The presence of additives improves the reputation of the oil, especially when it comes to restoring individual parts of the unit without the need to completely disassemble it.
