The annual Los Angeles Auto Show 2017 presented the world community with a large number of really high-quality, technological and attractive new products, including the updated Mazda 6.

In comparison with the pre-styling modification, the novelty received a corrected appearance, a better and more presentable interior, as well as a new technical component, which allowed the Japanese to come close to the best representatives of the European D-class.

It should be noted that according to the reports of the marketing department of Mazda, the most popular among buyers is the "six" in top-end equipment, which, however, noticeably lost to competitors in terms of sound and noise insulation, which negatively affected the volume of sales.

The manufacturer claims that in the new Mazda 6 they took into account the shortcomings of its predecessor and made the car as comfortable and pleasant to drive as possible, but whether this is really so, we will try to find out in the course of our review.

It is worth paying tribute to the "Mazda" designers - they managed to create a really attractive, dynamic and well-recognizable design of their cars, which has been operated by the company for more than 5 years and, to the surprise of competitors, is still relevant. This means that the new Mazda 6 retained the shape of its predecessor, having received only a number of minor visual differences.

So, frontal part of the body received a larger false radiator grille with a fine-mesh mesh, a less aggressive front bumper and a slightly smaller LED head optics, supplemented by LED foglights.

Vehicle profile remained intact and, as before, stands out with a long bonnet, an elegant roofline, puffed wheel arches and a lean stern, giving the car a sporty character.

Spectacular and moderately sporty food acquired updated LED side lights, interconnected by a stylish chrome partition, but retained the monumental rear bumper with exhaust pipes spaced apart in the corners.

The overall characteristics of the car are:

• Length - 4.87 m;
• Width - 1.84 m;
• Height - 1.45 m;
• Length from axis to axis - 2.83 m.

The car rises above an expensive car at least 165 mm, which is more than enough even for the realities of Russian roads.

Like its predecessor, the car offers a choice of 10 possible body colors, among which Titanium Flash, Soul Red and Jet Black look especially stylish. In addition, there are 4 variations of R17 and 19 rims available to potential owners.

Once in the salon of the new Mazda 6 2018, you instantly catch yourself thinking that the Japanese have not deceived - the interior has really become more stylish, presentable and expensive, both visually and tactilely. The designers have completely replaced the front dashboard, which is made with an eye on the Vision Coupe concept model.

In front of the driver is a new multifunction steering wheel, as well as a digital 7-inch instrument panel monitor (top-end equipment). In simpler configurations, the car is equipped with a laconic and well-readable dashboard with analog instruments. In the central part of the front console there is an 8-inch "TV" of the multimedia complex and a strict control unit for the cabin climate, separated by a block of air duct deflectors.

It is also worth noting that in the top-end version, the front dashboard received a natural suede finish and Japanese ash inserts.

The car also received new, more comfortable and ergonomic front and rear seats, easily accommodating five adult passengers (including the driver).

Front seats have a noble profile and well-felt lateral support, and are also equipped with an electric drive, heating and ventilation system.

Rear sofa has a good layout and offers ample space in all directions, and among the amenities available to rear riders. A separate air duct unit, a heating system and a folding center armrest can be distinguished.

The volume of the trunk is 429 liters, and thanks to the rear sofa folding flush with the floor, its volume can be increased several times. Pleasant bonuses include a full-size spare wheel and a small set of tools hidden under the raised floor.

Special attention should be paid to the improved sound and vibration insulation, which was achieved thanks to the use of thicker metals in the area of ​​the wheel arches and better soundproofing material.

To the line of engines of its predecessor, the manufacturer added a new turbocharged gasoline Skyactiv-G 2.5T, producing 254 hp. and an impressive 420 Nm of torque. Such a unit functions in tandem with an automatic transmission for 6 speeds. It is also worth noting that a similar engine is installed on the flagship Mazda CX-9 crossover.

2. Four-cylinder Skyactiv-G, 2.5-liter capacity and a maximum power of 192 "mares" (256 Nm of peak torque). With it, acceleration from 0 to 100 takes 7.8 seconds, and the maximum possible speed is 223 km / h. Fuel consumption in mixed mode allows you to invest in the figure of 6.4-6.7 liters for every 100 km of track.
3. Diesel 2.2-liter Skyactiv-D, allowing to generate 150 or 175 "horses", as well as 380 and 420 Nm of peak thrust. With it, the Mazda sedan can accelerate to 205 km / h, and also consume an average of just under 5.5 l / 100 km.

At the heart of the new "six" is the familiar, but somewhat improved "bogie" "Skyactiv Platform", with a modified suspension geometry, reinforced rear arm mountings, improved springs and shock absorbers.

In addition, the steering has received a rigid attachment to the subframe, and, as before, is aggregated with an active electric power steering.

Already in the base, the car is completed G-Vectoring Contro technologyl, which is responsible for the control of the engine recoil in case of steering deflections, which provides the most "comfortable" distribution of the load arising during acceleration, maneuvers and deceleration. By the way, the disc brakes installed on the front and rear axles (the front ones are additionally ventilated) are designed to be responsible for braking.

Speaking of safety, it's worth mentioning right away that the car received the maximum 5 stars in the Euro NCAP crash tests. This was achieved through the use of high-strength steels and a large number of modern security systems:

Currently, the D-class segment is represented by a large number of really cool cars, which can now include the new Mazda 6 - it has noticeably changed technically, acquired a presentable and better-quality interior, advanced technical filling, and also lost its predecessor's "childhood sores". We are confident that while maintaining the price tag at the same level, the new product has every chance to become a noticeable player in the Russian market.
