New Year brought new statistics on car sales in Russia. Judging by the sales, the leader was the domestic auto manufacturer Lada. Comparing with the rating of the previous year, there is a difference, for example, Mitsubishi Outlander left the list altogether, having shown the most losses on sales, while Hyundai Solaris showed positive shifts towards leadership in the rating.

But what model has become a bestseller in Russia, we will point at the end of the rating. I would like to note right away that this car did not enter the top five at all and is not even the leader of the TOP-10 best-selling cars, since it only recently entered the market. Meanwhile, he beat all competitors in popularity and quite pretends to soon occupy the first place in the rating.

1. New Lada Granta

Lada Granta 2018 became the leader of the rating. According to statistics, 7,630 cars have been sold since the beginning of 2019. In January 2018, 5,315 copies were sold, which means that the increase was 43.6% (a difference of 2,315 cars).

In dealerships in Russia, the buyer can be offered 4 body options for Lada Granta sedan, liftback, hatchback and station wagon. Base Sedan Starting Price Starts from the level of 414 900 rubles... Under the hood of such a model, as a rule, gasoline engines are available, with a volume of 1.6 liters paired with a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic.

2. Lada Vesta

Lada Vesta lagged far behind, taking the second position in the rating. The body variants of this model are much larger than their predecessor. The buyer is offered:

  • sedan;
  • Cross;
  • SW;
  • SW Cross;
  • CNG;
  • Sport.

As statistics show, in the first month of 2019, dealerships managed to sell 7078 copies of this model, which is 382 more compared to the analogue of last year (6696 cars). The increase in sales is small - only 5.7%, nevertheless, the car occupies the second position in the rating.

The starting price of such a model will cost from 554 900 rubles... Under the hood, new items offer to install one of two gasoline engines, 1.6 or 1.8 liters, paired with a 5-speed manual or automatic transmission. By the type of drive, such a model can be front-wheel or all-wheel drive, depending on the configuration.

3. Kia Rio

The three leaders are closed by the Korean model, assembled on the territory of St. Petersburg - Kia Rio. Unlike the previous two leaders, this model went into negative territory; in January 2019, dealerships sold 336 fewer cars, only 6,246 copies, while 6,582 copies were sold last year. The drop in sales statistics was -5.1%.

The buyer is offered a choice of two body styles for the Kia Rio: a sedan and a hatchback. The basic configuration of the sedan will cost the least - from 694 900 rubles... The units of the model are not so powerful, gasoline, with a volume of 1.4 and 1.6 liters. 6-speed manual and automatic transmission are available, but only front-wheel drive.

4. Hyundai Creta

Another 4th position in the ranking of the best-selling cars in Russia was taken by Hyundai Creta. According to the available information, 4187 cars were sold in the first month of 1919, last year for the same period 3833 units, thus, the sales statistics increased by 9.2%.

5. Hyundai Solaris

The first five leaders are closed by another model from Hyundai. Solaris sedan will cost from 730,000 rubles... According to statistics, 3805 cars were sold in January of this year, 2987 cars were sold last year. The difference in growth was 818 cars, which is 27.4% more this year.

Under the hood, new items propose to install 2 gasoline engines, 1.4 and 1.6 liters, with a capacity of 100 and 123 horses, respectively. Everyone can get a pair of 6-speed manual or automatic transmission. The drive in this model is only front and without options. On the other hand, it is more of a city car than for long-distance country trips.

6. Volkswagen Polo

The second five leaders and the sixth position were taken by the new Volkswagen Polo. The increase in sales is average, in January 2019 we managed to sell 3693 cars, in 2018 3209 cars. Sales growth amounted to 484 cars, which is + 15.1% in general statistics. The basic equipment of the Russian sedan will cost from 654,900 rubles, top-end equipment from 774 900 rubles.Under the hood of the sedan, only petrol engines with a volume of 1.4 and 1.6 liters are available. In a pair to the engines, the manufacturer suggests installing 5 or 6 st. mechanical, 6 or 7 tbsp. automatic (with tiptronic function). By the type of drive, any of the complete sets will be front-wheel drive. As you can see, the manufacturer did not deprive the buyer of transmissions, providing a very good choice.

7. Kia Sportage

To diversify the list of passenger models, the 7th position was taken by the Kia Sportage crossover. The sales indicator for the first month of the new year was 2761 cars, the same period last year showed the sale of 5067. It turns out that the crossover is at a loss by 10% and sold 306 cars less, respectively, the demand for this model began to gradually fall.

Under the hood of the Kia Sportage crossover, there are two gasoline engines (2.0 and 2.4 liters) and one diesel engine with a volume of 2.0 liters. The weakest unit is in tandem with a manual transmission, the other two engines with an automatic transmission. Accordingly, the drive can only be front or full, with a connected rear axle. The base trim of the 2019 Kia Sportage will cost from 1 324 900 rubles, although in dealerships you can still find 2018 models of production at a promotional price from 1 199 900 rubles.

8. Skoda Rapid

In comparison with the previous rating, for the same period of 2018, the new Skoda Rapid has retained its position, which means that its popularity has not diminished. Since the beginning of January, dealerships have sold 2,510 cars, which is 212 more than last year's rating (2,298 cars). Sales growth is small, only 9.2%, but given the state of the economy, this is also not a bad indicator.

The basic equipment of the new Skoda Rapid will cost from 657,000 rubles, in total, there are three basic configurations to choose from: Standard, Monte Carlo and Hockey Edition. The main differences were in the external design, a set of security systems and additional comfort elements.

Depending on the selected configuration, an MPI or TSI engine with a volume of 1.6 or 1.4 liters, respectively, can be located under the hood. In tandem with engines with a volume of 1.6 liters, 5 sts can be installed. mechanical or 6 tbsp. automatic transmission, for a 1.4 liter engine. only DSG transmission. The drive does not depend on the configuration and is always only for the front axle.

9. Lada Largus

The penultimate, 9th position in the top ten was taken by Lada Largus. Unlike the first two leaders, the variety of this model is not so great. There are three main options for the buyer's choice: station wagon, Cross and van. The differences are noticeable both externally and internally. According to statistics, 2375 copies of this model have been sold since the beginning of 2019, and 2268 cars have been sold last year (January). Thus, the difference was only 107 cars, and the sales growth was 4.7%.

The starting price of the simplest configuration starts from the mark 550 900 rubles... There are no special differences in technical characteristics from a large number of cars of this manufacturer; a well-known gasoline unit with a volume of 1.6 liters with 8 or 16 valves is installed under the hood. The unit is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission and a drive to the front axle of the car.

10. Renault Duster

The compact crossover Renault Duster closes the top ten leaders. On the Russian market, this model starts from the mark 699,000 rubles, top-end equipment will cost from 1,067,990 rubles... According to dealerships, since the beginning of this year they managed to sell 2,338 cars of this model, which is 172 less in comparison with last year's figures. It is noticeable that the demand for this crossover is going down. YTD sales statistics have dropped 6.9%.

According to the technical characteristics, the buyer has plenty to choose from, they offer gasoline and diesel engines. A manual or automatic transmission with front or all-wheel drive is installed in a pair. It’s hard to say how much demand this model will have, but in comparison with last year, things are not going for the better.

If we talk about the first ten leaders, then most of the changes are few. Many models held their ground despite economic instability. Among the new leaders are Hyundai Solaris and Creta, with the former gradually emerging from minus indicators. The biggest negative growth was in the Kia Sportage, with -10%, followed by Duster. The best in the top ten was the Volkswagen Polo sedan.

11. Lada 4 × 4

The second part of the leaders is opened by the updated Lada 4 × 4 SUV. As for the pricing policy, the basic configuration will cost from 488 900 rubles.

You should not expect much variety in terms of technical characteristics. One gasoline engine of your choice, 1.7 liter, 83 hp. paired with a manual transmission. Given that crossovers are gaining more and more popularity in the automotive market, only fans will pay attention to the domestic SUV. In the near future, the manufacturer wants to completely update the model, but details have not yet been disclosed.

12. Renault Logan

The first dozen of the rating of the best-selling cars in Russia for 2019 is closed by Renault Logan, with an indicator of 2036 copies since the beginning of January. Compared to last year, 483 more cars were sold (1553 cars), and a positive increase in sales amounted to 31.1%.

A mechanical 5-speed transmission or a 4-step is installed in a pair. automatic transmission. The drive of such a sedan is only front.

As already mentioned, the auto manufacturer Lada became the leader, in total 5 different models are presented in the rating. But the leader in terms of sales growth was the Skoda Kodiaq crossover, in comparison with others, the popularity of sales in January 2019 was 414.7%, and the increase in the difference over the same period was 1,041 cars. The ratio of quality, price and performance has become the main reason for the growth in demand for this model.

In total, 103,064 new cars were sold in Russia in January 2019, such statistics were presented by the Association of European Businesses. This list includes both passenger and commercial models, in total, the sales indicator increased by 0.6% compared to the same period last year.

Among the eliminated competitors, one can note the Mazda CX-5, which took the 17th place, the Mitsubishi Outlander, as well as the closing Datsun on-DO rating at the 24th place. They were replaced by Renault Sandero and Kia Optima. As you can see, if Renault is a standard visitor to the rating, then Optima is a very rare guest.
