As it became known, at the main plant of the Skoda company in Mlada Boleslav, the production of a new serial hatchback Skala has started. Despite the fact that the manufacturer is talking about a completely new design, the appearance is well recognizable. There are innovations at the back, in particular, the Skoda branded lettering on the entire width of the trunk, instead of the usual nameplate. The basis for the novelty was the modular platform A0 MQB, the same platform is used for Volkswagen cars.
In contrast to the exterior, the interior of the new Skoda Skala has received a unique design and style. In particular, the original layout of the climate control unit and air vents. The central display of the multimedia system will depend on the configuration, the manufacturer installs 6.5 ″ in the base, other models will receive 8.0 ″ or 9.2 ″ display. The basis for the Skoda multimedia was the Android Auto operating system, but whether Apple CarPlay will be on board, the manufacturer is still silent. Among the other "goodies" of the new Skala School, one can note a modern dual-zone climate control, a new digital instrument panel with a 10.25 ″ display. Other features include heated steering wheel, tailgate actuator and side airbags for the second row of seats. The driver will also be pleased with the electric heated windshield and adjustable suspension shock absorbers (two degrees of hardness). To highlight the new Skala from the general flow, for an additional fee, the manufacturer offers to install LED front optics and rear feet, with dynamic direction indicators, a panoramic roof and an unusual electric towing hook.
Scala was not deprived of the choice of the buyer regarding the technical characteristics. A total of 4 different engines will be available: 3 gasoline turbo engines and 1 turbodiesel. Regardless of the selected unit, all will be with direct injection, braking force recuperation and an engine start / stop button. All Skala configurations were adjusted by engineers to the modern Euro 6d standard. Among the security systems of the new Skoda Scala, it is possible to note the driver assistance assistant for keeping the car in the lane, blind spot monitoring, and the parking exit assistant. Also in the list of Skoda comfort systems is adaptive cruise control with the ability to operate at speeds up to 210 km / h.
In addition to the technical characteristics and equipment of the new Skoda, the manufacturer's representatives named the date of the start of sales and the price. In Europe, the start of sales is expected in the second half of 2019, presumably at the same time the novelty will go to dealerships in Russia. Regarding the price, in the Czech Republic the new Skoda Skala will cost from 15300 euros as standard. According to the manufacturer, the basic configuration will receive a 1.0-liter TSI gasoline engine. Skoda Skala equipment with a turbocharged diesel unit TDI, 1.6-liter will cost from 20,500 euros.
