Three years later, after the official premiere, the 2020 Kia Stonic crossover has undergone a planned update. Despite the loud statement that the car has been updated, the improvements are point and unobtrusive. The exterior of the new Kia Stonic 2020 has got full LED optics and 16 ″ alloy wheels with a new design. In addition to the visible changes, the crossover palette has been replenished with two body shades. The roof of the Kia Stonic can now be painted bright yellow.
Most of the improvements fell on the engine compartment of the Kia Stonik 2020. The new crossover has acquired a mild hybrid. According to the manufacturer, the EcoDynamic + unit, consisting of a 1.0-liter T-GDi turbocharged petrol unit. A starter-generator is installed in the pair, which is powered from a 48 V network. The total power of the soft installation is 120 horses. In tandem with the mild hybrid, a completely new manual transmission, electronically controlled clutch, iMT system is installed. A 7-speed robotized transmission is offered as an option. Regardless of the transmission, the driver is now able to select the travel mode and engine operation (Sport, Eco, Normal).
In addition to a mild hybrid, under the hood of the new Kia Stonic 2020, a turbocharged T-GDi, three-cylinder, 1.0-liter and 100 horsepower can be installed. An atmospheric unit with a volume of 1.2 liters and a capacity of 84 horses is still available. Unlike previous versions, the new aspirated engine received a combined fuel injection.
Now let's look at the interior of the new Kia Stonik and its main changes. The central part of the panel was taken under the 8 ″ display of the multimedia system. Onboard multimedia includes voice control, Bluetooth and the ability to connect two different devices at the same time. At the heart of multimedia is simultaneously two systems Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The dashboard has also received changes, it has become larger and the diagonal reaches 4.2 ″. In addition to the details, the buyer was offered several additional interior trim options.
In addition to the visible updates to the Kia Stonic 2020, the new crossover has received invisible improvements. This applies to security and comfort systems. This is how adaptive cruise control appeared on the list, which works in tandem with the lane keeping system. This entire mechanism can operate at speeds up to 180 km / h. The engineers have improved the automatic braking system, which works in tandem with the recognition system for pedestrians, cyclists or other obstacles on the road.
Perhaps the changes in the new Kia Stonic are point-like and do not reach restyling, however, the manufacturer has modified them in a modern way, thereby improving the overall appearance of the car. Probably, to the extent of the emergence of new technologies, they will be introduced into the Kia Stonic crossover, but how this will affect the price is still unknown.
