Car tuning has always been, is and will be, no matter how modern or new the car is. Every driver thinks about how to improve the appearance and appearance of the pet. In particular, one of these types of "light" tuning is considered to be the installation of a car hood deflector or, in another way, a fly swatter.

The concept and functions of the hood deflector

The deflector, or as it is called in another way "fly swatter" - is a special device that is installed on the hood. Mostly the deflector is made of plastic. Depending on the wishes of the driver, you can tune the deflectors themselves with the help of various films or change the shape, which give it a completely new look. For some vehicles, there is also a special protection for the radiator grille.

Its task is to protect the car from dust and other substances on the windshield. Often, dust, sand and insects spoil the front of the bodywork, which leads to the need to polish or paint the hood. The deflector is designed to avoid these procedures by using special aerodynamic properties that cause the air to flow around the vehicle.

Basically, the functions of the deflector are revealed for driving at high speeds, when various stones and insects fall into the meeting with the car. Soon, the driver of a car without a deflector may notice various scratches and cracks. Varnishing or painting is much more expensive than installing this device.

Another plus can be considered the fact that there are cases when an insect hits the windshield, creating poor visibility for the driver, and this can already threaten his safety. Finally, deflectors can make a car stand out from others, creating its own distinctive style.

One, there are also negative aspects of this adaptation. In winter, for example, in bad weather conditions, snow can clog into the deflector, and therefore it will have to be cleaned every time.

How to install the deflector

It is not difficult to do this, but you should carefully consider this procedure, otherwise, with poor and insufficient fastening, the deflector can fly off and, as a result, scratch the car. Therefore, first of all, you should take a responsible attitude to the choice of the device itself. You need to choose high-quality deflectors, a reliable manufacturer. Thus, you will protect yourself from low-quality products, and therefore from various problems in the future.

There are two ways to install the deflector. All you need is a screwdriver and a degreasing liquid. In the first case, the deflector is attached to the hood with self-tapping screws, and it is installed in special holes that either already exist or need to be drilled. In the second case, the deflector is attached with special clamps, under which adhesive tape is glued to avoid any scratches.

However, simple installation is not enough. It is important to know how to properly use and care for the deflector. The most important thing is to always keep the device clean and check for any damage. If they are present, the deflector should be replaced otherwise it will soon become unusable. It is also necessary to ensure that it is securely fastened, and in case of loosening, the fastening mechanisms should be tightened. Only in this case will the deflectors do their job efficiently and last a long time.

Deflector cost

Depending on the make and model of the car, the price for the hood deflector can vary significantly. On average, the cost is determined from $ 12-16. For more expensive cars, the price hovers around $ 40. On average, installing a deflector will cost about $ 10, but do not be afraid of difficulties and it is better to do the installation procedure yourself.
